Kikkan Randall answered a few questions for us after her 10K classic race on Thursday. She is now preparing for the relay and the individual sprint.

Can you tell us what its like to be an Olympic sprint final? Were you
and Wendy pleased with your result?

It was very exciting to be in the sprint final, although very tough! We had never done back to back races like this and it was a big learning experience. We were pleased with our result and know that with more practice we can be closer to the leaders soon!

What are the highlights from your Olympic experience so far?
The highlights so far are marching into the opening ceremonies, meeting other athletes here in the athlete village and of course the great performance in the sprint relay.

Tell us about your 10K classic race…
The race today, 10km classic, was challenging. I think all the US women did the best that we could. We definitely fell short of where we wanted to be but we’re satisfied with our efforts. The waxing staff did an incredible amount of work getting our skis ready for the tough conditions and we thank them for that! Our skis were decent. 3 of us went on harries, Wendy went on klister. We’re looking forward to a rebound in the relay and then for me the sprint!

Thanks Kikkan, keep up the good work!
