Invitation To USSA Congress 2006

Dear USSA Members,

I am pleased to invite you to attend this year’s USSA Congress, May 10-14 in Park City. Our organization is coming off a successful season where 10 different athletes won 10 Olympic medals including five gold, and Paralympians won 11 medals, seven gold among them. But we know we cannot rest on our laurels. We must re-center USSA and prepare our push for 2010 and the Vancouver Games!

During the 2006 Congress, we will take time as a Team to review our vision to be Best in the World — a vision that we will continue. I’ll talk about USSA’s mission, focusing particularly on leadership responsibilities and goals. Also, I will introduce USSA’s core values by which all USSA members — staff, coaches, officials, volunteers and athletes — should conduct their programs and themselves.

Our success to date is directly attributable to the work you do within your sport. However, whether or not you sit on a committee, you are welcomed and encouraged to attend USSA Congress and learn more about the governance of your sport. This is your opportunity to participate in sport committee meetings and working groups, using your voice and leadership to ensure the future of these successful programs.

Some highlights of the USSA Congress 2006:
• Committee meetings run Wednesday through Saturday, but primary days are Friday and Saturday for the main sport committee meetings;
• Opening keynote address will be Friday at 7:30 a.m.;
• Chairman’s Awards Dinner Friday, May 12, honoring volunteers, officials, coaches and clubs;
• Board of Director’s meeting Sunday, May 14 — all are welcome to attend.

We’ve again arranged for housing at the Yarrow Hotel (1.800.927.7694) for a very reasonable $69/double; airline tickets may be obtained through USSA’s travel agency (WorldTek at 1.800.TEAM.SKI). I look forward to seeing you here May 10-14.

Sincerely,

Bill Marolt
