Since the race season finished up, what have you been up to?
After the race season I didn't really have time to do too much because
I had to catch up with all the school that I missed. There was really
good spring skiing in Marquette so I did a lot of that. I also went
back to work so I could pay for all of my races!!

Summer life in the Midwest — how’s it going for you?
Summer training in Marquette has been great. It hasn't been too hot
and there are so many places to go. I've been doing some of my training
with a few other girls from NMU. It’s nice to have team mates around to
keep you motivated.

Why is college the right place for you as a skier?
The coaching at NMU couldn't be better and there are so many fast
girls to train with. If I didn't go to college, I wouldn't have had
this opportunity. I also wanted to get college out of the way so when I
am older I can focus totally on racing.

What is it like to work with Sten Fjeldheim?
-Its been great. Along with Jenny, we have two very knowledgable coaches who will do anything for their skiers. They have been doing it for so long that they know what works and what doesn't. Jenny and Sten have motivating personalities – this helps make me a faster skier.

Why do you think Sten’s been so successful with developing talent?
He has worked with many other coaches to figure out what needs to be
done to get faster. He has been on the race scene for so long that he
sees other people's mistakes and learns from them. He challenges his
athletes to work hard and supports them when things go well or not so
well.

For training this year, you trying anything new?
This year I am increasing my hours and adding more intervals into my
training. Other than that, it’s a lot of the same from the last couple
years- rollerskiing, running, strength, spenst and a little road biking!

What are your first impressions about working with the new USST staff and the Park City testing camp in May?
The camp in May was the best USST camp I have ever been to. The testing showed me what I need to work on, and what I have improved on over the years. The coaching staff is excellent and they were willing to do anything to help us. They are so fired up about the team and training. Its great to have a few camps over the summer to get together with other athletes and do different workouts. My favorite workout was the classic team sprint at Soldier Hollow- and I don't even
like sprinting all that much! I'm looking forward to going back in July and seeing what I have improved on in the tests and, of course, to train with the team.
