FIS official and ski legend Vegard Ulvang want to increase World Cup skier’s salaries.

Vegard Ulvang is heavily promoting the new Tour De Ski. Now he also wants to increase World Cup skier’s salaries by introducing price money at the World Championship.

– I realized when I was a ski racer that there should be prize money at Worlds, and I’m standing by that, says Ulvang to nettavisen.no.

There won’t be prize money at this year's Worlds in Sapporo, Japan. But the skiers will be able to make big bucks during Tour De Ski where the winner will take home close to one million kroner (US $ 140,000).

Vegard also wants to increase World Cup race prize money by 10% in the near future since they have been stagnant for a long period.
