USSA NATIONAL TD AND RACE ORGANIZER SEMINAR
Oct. 27-29
Reno, NV

Chairman of the USSA Officials Subcommittee Bob Gross, along with former USSA Technical Director Hugh Cooke presented a two day seminar for the organizers and officials of FIS/USSA national calendar competitions. Officials and race organizers from across the U.S. were invited to attend. Nearly forty club officials, race organizers, event promoters and entry level officials attended the seminar. Auburn Ski Club, from Far West Division hosted the event with major leadership from Bill Clark and Sally Jones.

The seminar included indoor sessions on Friday evening, Saturday morning and Sunday morning in Reno; with an outdoor practical session at Auburn Ski Club Saturday afternoon. Participants enjoyed a fun-filled social and BBQ on Saturday evening at the ASC Training Center.

Topics included race rules and interpretations, new regulations and enforcements and race organization guidelines. National Championship and International level races were the key focus. Much of the instruction involved individual sprint racing and team sprint management and regulations. A detailed summary of current disqualification and sanction penalties were included.

This update will satisfy the Level 3 and 4 USSA TD certification (TDs are required to attend a seminar once every two years, and chiefs of competition for National Championship and Junior Olympic races are required to attend a seminar within the two years prior to hosting a championship event).

The participants included national level officials and nearly ten states were represented and twenty five racing teams or clubs.
