Norway's Glide Wax Chief Quits

The glide technician in the Norwegian wax team, Johnny Berås, has quit his job allegedly due to conflicts about waxing philosophy within the team, according to Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten.

Sportchief Åge Skinstad is not willing to comment why Johnny Berås has quit his job with the Norwegian waxteam.

– This is a personal case, says Skinnstad.

Berås has been the top glide technician for the Norwegian skiers since 1999.

Norway’s head wax technician, Knut Nystad, (former Denver University head coach) has brought data analysis and other technology into the wax room. Aftenposten claims that a cultural-collision between the new computer age and the old style craftsmanship might be the reason why BerÃ¥s quit his job after the recent races in Kuusamo.

– It was family reasons, I want to spend more time at home, says Johnny BerÃ¥s to Aftenposten, and adds secretly that that’s not the only reason.
