Alex Harvey of Canada was the top North American in the boys 10 k individual start freestyle race at junior Worlds on Wednesday with a great 3rd place finish. It has been reported that this is Canada's first medal in a men's event at the World Junior Championships, though FasterSkier.com has not been able to confirm that.
The Boys 10 kilometer freestyle race was won by Martti Jylhae of Finland. Alexey Poltaranin of Kazakhstan was second and Alex Harvey, Canada was third, 14 seconds from second. Phillip Matthew Gelso, USA was 29th.
Langrenn.com reported that it was an advantage to start early since the tracks warmed up and racers with later bibs had slower conditions.
