Alex Harvey of Canada was the top North American in the boys 10 k individual start freestyle race at junior Worlds on Wednesday with a great 3rd place finish. It has been reported that this is Canada's first medal in a men's event at the World Junior Championships, though FasterSkier.com has not been able to confirm that.
The Boys 10 kilometer freestyle race was won by Martti Jylhae of Finland. Alexey Poltaranin of Kazakhstan was second and Alex Harvey, Canada was third, 14 seconds from second. Phillip Matthew Gelso, USA was 29th.

<p>In this second day at the Nordic Junior Ski World Championships, the Swede Charlotte Kalla took revenge on Astrid Jacobsen (Norway) after she lost two days ago for the gold medal in the sprint competition. The twenty-year-old girl from Gällivare started her competition with bib number one and she beat four Norwegian athletes by doing a perfect race. Marthe Kristoffersen finished 30 seconds later and Astrid Jacobsen arrived 34 seconds after first place. Jacobsen came in before her countrywonan, Therese Johaug, the bronze medal winner in the 30km race at the World Championships in Sapporo. The Italian Irene Cicolini had a good race. She was the first Italian. She was 14th, by coming in one minute after the winner. </p>
<p>Elisabeth Stephen, USA was 7th in the girls’ 5 kilometer freestyle race. Brittany Webster, Canada, was 9th and Alexa Turzian, USA was 16th. Kate Brennan, Canada was 22nd.</p>
