2007 Minnesota high school Nordic skiing standouts, Lindsay Wallis and
Waylon Manske have committed to The College of St. Scholastica as
incoming freshman for the 2007/08 school year. Also committing as a
transfer is Bjorn Bakken, a former Duluth Marshall skier.

Wallis, Manske, and Bakken will join 11 other incoming freshman and
transfer students to the 2007/08 Saints ski team. Wallis finished 8th
in the Freestyle Sprint at the 2007 USSA Junior Olympics at Soldier
Hollow, UT, as well as placed 6th in the Minnesota High School State
Meet. Manske finished 19th in 15km Freestyle at Soldier Hollow. Bakken
has been competing for the University of Maine at Presque Isle while
competing nationally and internationally in biathlon.

“Lindsay, Waylon, and Bjorn will all be big impact skiers for our
second season,” said Saints Head Coach, Chad Salmela. “Our men’s
team will have incredible depth for its second season as a program with
Jason Kask and Tyler Kjorstad both nearly qualifying for NCAAs last
season. Waylon and Bjorn, as well as a bunch of hungry freshman will
not only push Jason and Tyler, but give us a serious scoring base,”
said Salmela. “Our women’s program is going to see a big boost from
many freshman and transfers who will give our team big depth beyond
Ellen Anderson and Megan Holmes. It’s going to be an exciting season
for us.
