The end of the summer also signifies the end of the dry-land season and the FIS World Cup Roller Skiing. The 2007 FIS World Cup consisted of races in five countries and Maria Magnusson (SWE) and Igor Glushkov (RUS) became the proud winners of the overall FIS World Cup trophies. In the last competition held in Samsun (TUR) in mid-September, the Russian team completed its success with a victory in the Nations’ Cup (with 5803 points), followed by Italy (5755 points) and Turkey (3452).

The top snow-skiing athlete was Italian star Giorgio DiCenta, who participated in two events, winning one, and finishing 13th in the overall standings. Former University of New Mexico All-American skier Dirk Grimm (GER) scored points in five events and concluded the roller-ski season ranked 24th.

At one time, Magnusson was one of the top Junior sprinters in Sweden, qualifying in 3rd, and finishing 8th at the 2004 World Junior Championships. Glushkov has only two recorded FIS results on snow – both sprint races where he did not distinguish himself.
