USCSA National Championships – Individual Freestyle

Black Mountain, Rumford, ME. The United States Collegiate Skiing Association (USCSA) held their last individual race of the 30th Annual U.S. Collegiate National Championships. The 8.5k freestyle race was held on Friday (3/7/08).

The woman’s race was won by Megan Toussaint from University of Maine, Presque Isle, who captured her second freestyle National title in a row. Shaina Short from St. Olaf added to her two medals earlier this week with a silver in the freestyle race. Whitney Olson added to her two golds by earning the bronze on Friday. In team scoring, the St. Olaf College women won the freestyle race, and Clarkson University and University of Wyoming women took second and third place, respectively.

The men’s race was won by Matt Delaney of Clarkson University, who captured his second National title this week. Tom Jorgensen of St. Olaf, the classical gold medalist, took home the silver medal. Stefan Bibb of Paul Smiths College rounded out the podiums. St. Olaf College men won the sprint race, Clarkson University and University of Wyoming men took second and third place, respectively.

The final USCSA National team race, a 3x5k relay, will be held on Saturday (3/8/08).
