<p>Tim Burke (USA). Despite significant setbacks due to illness, Tim continued to lead the US Biathlon squad on the international stage. He had two top ten finishes at the World Championships in Ostersund, Sweden, and finished the season ranked 29th in the overall World Cup. Tim finished the season with 5 top-15 finishes.</p>
<p>Honorable Mention; Jay Hakkinen (USA). Jay stepped up while his teammate, Burke was down with illness, placing 47th overall on the World Cup, including a 9th place in Finland and two top 20s in Ruhpolding, Germany.</p>
<p><b>BIATHLETE OF THE YEAR (WOMEN):</b></p>
<p>Caitlin Compton (USA). In her first year racing biathlon after switching from Cross-Country, Caitlin posted surprising results, including a 37th at the World Championships in Sweden. She also showed she hasn’t lost a step in cross-country, winning the US National Title in the 5km freestyle.</p>
<p>Honorable Mention; Laura Spector (USA). Laura posted three top-25 finishes at the Junior World Championships in Ruhpolding, Germany, and also competed at the World Championships in Ostersund, Sweden. She is one of several strong biathletes coming up through the US system.</p>
