Burke Mountain Academy in East Burke, Vermont is seeking an assistant Nordic Coach for the coming season.
Burke is a small college preparatory academy for students with a commitment to Alpine or Nordic skiing. Academics and athletics are scheduled to work together, enabling adequate training and competition time as well as the pursuit of academic excellence and preparation for a successful college experience.
The assistant coach’s duties include attendance at training camps, help in all areas of race prep from wax to on-course racer communication, the design and facilitation of individual training plans, supervision of daily and weekly training sessions, as well as participation in some workouts. The Assistant will be able to do some personal racing in the course of the season although it will have to play second fiddle to the team’s race day needs.
Qualifications include a BA degree or foreign equivalent, racing experience at the collegiate or higher level, ease in communication, and an interest in helping young skiers discover and strive after personal goals in the sport, and in their academic efforts. Previous coaching experience is a plus but not a necessity.
The Salary is based on experience. Teaching duties could add to the final amount. The compensation package can include on-campus housing with full board and includes benefits and camp travel.
