Crested Butte on Snow Camp June 5th-8th
Boulder Nordic Sport, Western State College and the Crested Butte Nordic Center will host a 4-day on-snow camp for all ages June 5-8, 2008 in Crested Butte, Colorado. The snow continues to pile up in Crested Butte and we look forward to 5km of Pisten Bully-groomed trails for a fun-filled 4 days of skiing and dryland training at the peak of spring in the Colorado High Country.
The four-day camp will be led by Western State College Coach Jesse Crandall and Boulder Nordic Sport owner Nathan Schultz. The camp provides intermediate to advanced skiers with technique coaching, video analysis, and information about a wide range of training, technique and other skiing topics. The itinerary includes skiing in the morning on all three days with afternoon dryland sessions and evening discussion topics and social events. Skiers will be grouped by ability with no more than eight skiers per coach to provide the best coaching experience possible.
Physiology testing is available at Western State College as an add-on to the camp. VO2 Max and Lactate Testing are available with consultations from the Western State Exercise Physiologist and tests can be done rollerskiing on WSC’s new state-of-the-art treadmill, running or cycling.
The fee for the three-day camp is $100 for juniors and $360 for adults, which includes grooming fees and coaching. Discounted lodging and meal packages will be available. See bouldernordic.com for details and registration or call 720.227.9400.
New Zealand On-Snow Camps
July 20-August 1 Juniors, August 4-14 Adults
The New Zealand on-snow camp immerses participants in the skiing lifestyle with 11 days of top-notch cross-country ski coaching (14 for juniors) on snow at Snow Farm on the South Island. Daily sessions include extensive video analysis and are complemented by evening seminars on topics including training plans, technique, and waxing/ski prep. The New Zealand camp is a once-in-a-lifetime trip that drastically improves skiing technique and builds knowledge in an incredibly beautiful place.
Snow Mountain Ranch Thanksgiving Camp – November 28-30, 2008
The 6th edition of BNS’s Colorado Thanksgiving Camp will be at Snow Mountain Ranch Friday-Sunday after Thanksgiving. This camp will focus on technique development using small groups and video analysis with top-notch coaching. Two sessions on Friday and Saturday and one session on Sunday will explore classic and skating styles in groups of similar abilities.
Snow Mountain Ranch offers discounted lodging and meal packages, but reservations fill up long in advance, so make reservations early to get ski-out-the-door convenience.
Swedish Vasaloppet February 24-March 2, 2009
The Swedish Vasalopppet is the biggest cross-country ski race in the world and the BNS trip will pursue it in the grand style that this race deserves. BNS owner Nathan Schultz will lead the trip along with local support from Henrik and Magnus Eriksson. Henrik is a former winner of the Vasaloppet and will coach participants through the course, preparation, feeding and waxing for the big event.
The trip will include ground transportation, lodging, meals, race support, race entry, coaching, waxing and course previews. This Swedish Vasaloppet trip has very limited space due to lodging constraints.
