2009 February

The diet and cleanse business is a total gold mine. This isn't N-E-W-S, as it's been booming for years with award winning diets, cleanses and fads blossoming like cherry trees in the spring. The Atkins diet, South Beach diet, Pritikin diet, wild rose cleanse, the oatmeal-only cleanse, juice-only cleanse, are just a speck of sand in the desert of the industry.

There has been a lot of work done this season, and it’s really starting to show.  I’m finding myself impressed and in awe of the whole FXC crew (Comp and Devo) on a regular basis these days.  So cool.  So, SO COOL! Today was another instance of it - a lot of these guys have weathered [...]

KLINGENTHAL, Germany – The U.S. Ski Team’s Billy Demong (Vermontville, NY) finished fifth Saturday during a Nordic combined World Cup in Germany, just missing the podium in a four skier sprint for the number three spot. Finland’s Anssi Koivuranta won the competition to retain the lead  in the World Cup standings. “It was a little tough. It was the first comp back and it was OK obviously to get fifth but, generally speaking, it wasn’t...

Tough Course, nice weather, and hard racing.  One of my favorite races of the year. People looked good today… fitness is building, technique is improving… there is work to be done, but the future is bright.

Pyeong Chang, Korea – Warm winds and heavy rain have battered the course and even forced the cancellation of the opening ceremonies. The organizers are working through the night to try and improve the situation, but even the entry of the athletes has been postponed to the morning so the coaches can see the conditions before deciding on the seeding, if there will be a competition at all. Training was canceled today in an effort...

Koos Skis to Season Best 8th, Hattestad Wins Again

Valdidentro, Italy – Torin Koos (USA) skied to his best ever freestyle World Cup finish, finishing 8th today in the 1.7km sprint. Ola Vigen Hattestad (NOR) continued his unprecedented domination of the sprint circuit. Hattestad skied to his 5th World Cup victory in 6 starts this season. His only “loss” was a second place finish to Emil Joensson (SWE) in Whistler. Hattestad sat out the sprint in Rybinsk, Russia two weeks ago due to the...

After a week offline, the new FasterSkier site is back up and running. We have eliminated the portal, and for now, the old site remains at http://new.fasterskier.com There is a link on the top of the old site that will take you to the new site and vice versa.

Feeling much better. Whatever I had was super low level and today I skied for 90 minutes and felt more like myself. I still won't race tomorrow. There is way more to risk than to gain when getting over a little sickness and it rarely works out that you...
