Strandberg Wins Again in Telemark, Zimmerman Takes Men’s Race

Cable, Wisconsin – Kristina Strandberg (Saab Salomon Factory Team) won her second SuperTour in two days, wile Leif Zimmerman (USST) was back on top after finishing 4th on Saturday.

Strandberg, who leads the overall SuperTour rankings, and appears to be the easy favorite, even with half a season of racing to go, edged out Nicole DeYong (Fischer/Craft,SVSEF) by 1.5 seconds in the 10km freestyle event. DeYong was fifth on Saturday and with her performances this weekend, will certainly climb into the top-10 overall.

JoJo Winters (CXC Elite) finished third, 11 seconds behind DeYong. Winters just missed the podium on Saturday, finishing fourth, 3.5 seconds out of third. On Sunday it was Lindsey Dehlin (USST) out of the top-3, finishing fourth. Dehlin was second on Saturday.

Kristina Trygstad-Saari (Saab Salmon Factory Team), winner of Wednesday’s sprint, rounded out the top-5.

In the men’s 15km freestyle, Leif Zimmerman (USST) climbed back to the top of the podium. Zimmerman won Wednesday’s sprint and added to his overall SuperTour lead. He squeaked out a narrow victory over Lars Flora (Saab Salmon Factory Team) by a mere 1.6 seconds. Flora was also second in Saturday’s classic race.

Brain Gregg (CXC Elite) took third in an extremely tight field. Gregg was only .7 seconds behind Flora and two seconds ahead of fourth place finisher Mikey Sinnott (Saab Salmon Factory Team/SVSEF). The top 13 men all finished within 13 seconds.

Saturday’s 10km classic winner, David Chamberlain, finished 12th.
