Vasaloppet 2011 Already Sold Out

The popular skiing season only just began last Saturday, August 28th at Falls Creek (AUS) where the weather gods smiled on the 20th running of the Kangaroo Hoppet, and perfect racing conditions saw local Mt Beauty skier Esther Bottomley and her boyfriend Valerio Leccardi from Switzerland take the season’s first victories.

However, if you had been thinking about participating in the famous Vasaloppet next March it is already too late and you will have to wait to 2012. All entries for the 2011 edition are sold out and no further skiers will be allowed to register. Registrations for the 87th Vasaloppet flowed in at a very fast pace and as the numbers reached the limit of 15’800, the registration closed last week.

The good news is that there are still available entries for the other races that are part of the Vasaloppet Winter Week 2011. Ski enthusiasts can, for example, register for the “Open Track”, which covers the entire 90km Vasaloppet course, or any of the other shorter races.
