SportHill founder and CEO Jim Hill announced today that SportHill, Inc, an Eugene, Oregon based performance apparel manufacturer, will again host and sponsor the Crescent Lake Challenge free style cross country ski race and citizen tour on January 16, 2011.

2010 was the first year that a event like this had been staged around Crescent Lake. Seventy five participants skied the 22-kilometer course with the men’s overall winner Eric Martin of Bend covering the distance in 1:09.54 and the overall women’s winner Sara Max, covering the course in 1:21.10.

“As of November 30th we have more snow than we had on race day of last year. And thanks to the Walker Rim Riders and their brand new groomer, we anticipate excellent race conditions,” states Jim Hill.

This year’s money awards will be five deep for both men and women and random drawing prizes will be donated by Bogs Boots and SportHill. Crescent Lake Lodge will provide hot lunches to all racers and volunteers. Lodging is available on site at Crescent Lake Lodge and also at Willamette Inn, O’Dell Lake Lodge, and Shelter Cove Resort. All levels of cross country skiers are welcome, though participants should be physically prepared to cover 22 kilometers of rolling hills skiing.
