Bridger Ski Foundation Seeks Comp Team/U16 Coach

Bridger Ski Foundation (BSF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit ski community organization that is Gold Certified through U.S. Ski and Snowboard and seeking passionate coaches for the 2023-24 season. Located in the ideal outdoor adventure town of Bozeman, Montana, BSF offers educational and competitive programs in Alpine, Nordic, Freestyle, and Freeskiing. BSF works with over 800 nordic ski athletes of all ages each year, focusing on inspiring a lifelong love of skiing, athletic excellence, and personal growth. BSF also grooms an incredible network of community ski trails with free public access at six venues in Bozeman.

 

Comp Team/U16 Coach: Nordic

Position: Part-Time Seasonal with potential for full-time, year-round work

Start Date: Candidate would ideally start June 1st 

End Date: March 31th

Job Duties (but not limited to):

  • Must be able to work independently and part of a team with coaches of all age groups
  • Strong, clear communication with the Nordic Program Director and Comp Team Head Coach
  • Provide and maintain a safe, fun environment for athletes on and off the snow, aligned with BSF’s mission statement
  • Ability to organize, direct and lead a group of athletes through various  practice activities
  • Strong communication skills with athletes, parents, and co-coaches
  • Help plan daily training
  • Drive after-school shuttles in a 12-passenger Sprinter van. (September – March)
  • Drive shuttles to training camps and race trips for up to 8-10 hours at a time (common destinations include Jackson, WY; Sun Valley, ID; McCall, ID; Park City, UT)
  • Assist with planning BSF events including training camps and races

 

Essential Skills, Knowledge, Abilities & Background

  • Preferred past Nordic race experience 
  • Passion around mission and values of BSF
  • Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
  • Strong work ethic, willingness & ability to work extended hours during race weekends and camps 
  • Proven ability to plan, facilitate, and adapt in work within a given structure
  • Knowledge in Nordic training and technique
  • Basic knowledge in Nordic waxing and equipment preferred 

Requirements:

  • Must be in good standing with U.S. Ski and Snowboard, pass background check, complete safe sport, and other requirements of USSS
  • Level 100 coaching license
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Experience with Nordic ski racing and training

 

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Hourly wage: $22-25/hour DOE, with potential for year-round salary and benefits
  • Reimbursed for USSS coaching license
  • CPR/1st Aid Training
  • BSF provides coach education opportunities
