Sugar Bowl Academy invites motivated U14-U20 athletes to consider joining us for amazing training and racing in sunny California. Our program offers some of the best training in North America: more than 140km of trails at Royal Gorge XC, groomed through our campus, 300+ days of sun, 480 inches of snow annually, on campus strength and conditioning coach and facilities, thousands of miles of amazing single track for biking and running, biathlon, SkiMo, mountain biking and Sky Running opportunities, and a proven program of success.
Led by Academy Nordic Director/Head Coach David Sinclair and supported by Nordic Ski Team Director, Will Sweetser, our Gap Year program has produced 2 U.S. Ski Team members, 2 U.S. Biathlon World Junior Team members and 2 FIS Cross-Country World Junior Team members in the past 7 seasons. Recent SBA Nordic student-athletes have competed as members of the U18 Scando Cup Trip, IBU Youth Championships Team, U.S. Junior National Mountain Bike Team, and at the IOC Youth Olympics (biathlon and cross-country). Additionally, student-athletes have earned gold at U.S. Junior National Championships in cross-country and biathlon and at the World Junior Sky Running Championships in the past 5 seasons.
Our program maintains a 1:6 athlete to coach ratio and offers unrivaled opportunities for altitude and lower elevation training.
