Utah skiers have for almost two decades got used to seeing former National Champion and two-time Olympian John Aalberg at the top of the result lists in the Wasatch Cross Country race series. John spent however six years (1996-2002) devoted to his job with the Salt Lake Olympics, designing and overseeing the Nordic venue and organizing all events at Soldier Hollow. His racing was drastically reduced and so was his training. Despite this he made a “comeback” at last year's Boulder Mountain Tour and finished less than a second behind the winner – despite experiencing two broken poles.
