Skjeldal And Nilsen Won The Season’s Last Race — Skarverennet

The specialists beat the biathlon skiers

Langrenn.com — Norwegian Newspaper VG Reports:

Krister Skjeldal won the men’s race while Elin Nilsen won the women’s race in Saturday’s Skarverennet. This was the season’s last race in Norway. This is a skate race and approximately 11000 skiers participated

Lots of excitement had been built up around the duel between some of the World’s best biathlon skiers and Norway’s best specialists. Biathlon skier Frode Andresen won last years race while veteran (specialist) Skjeldal won this year after a hard fight with   biathlon skier Frode Andresen (second) and Ole Einar Bjorndalen (third).

Elin Nilsen won the women’s race, five minutes ahead of Nathalie Santer in second and twelve minutes ahead of Simone Denkinger of Germany in third.

This was Nilsen’s 11th victory in the race.

The snow froze the night before the race and the conditions were good and fast!
