This coming Wednesday, December 8th at 9:30 AM, members of the US National Cross-Country ski team and invited “speedsters†will attempt to break the current 100 meter Cross-Country skiing World record.
The 100-meter sprint at Soldier Hollow will give the sprinters 2 — 4 individual opportunities at breaking the World Record. All individual races will be timed with certified FIS timing equipment.
At this event last year Andrew Newell set what was believed to be a World Record. However his record was broken this summer by Australian ski sprint champion Paul Murray with a time of 12.48. Newell told FasterSkier this fall that he thinks he can go faster than he did last year, and he'll have some pretty fast company as well.
Times to beat from last year:
Andrew Newell 12.76 seconds – PREVIOUS WORLD RECORD
Torin Koos 12:90 seconds
Zach Simons 13.08 seconds
Leif Zimmermann 13.55 seconds
Wendy Wagner 14:87 seconds
Aelin Peterson 14.88 seconds
Hilary Patzer 14.98 seconds
Aubrey Smith 15.78 seconds
