FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf
16th to 27th February 2005

• 530 athletes from 51 nations compete for 19 gold medals on eleven days. WCS-titles can be won in twelve competitions in cross-country-skiing, four in ski-jumping and three in Nordic combined.

• Highlights: Opening Ceremony (Wednesday, 16th February), team competition in Nordic combined (Thursday, 22nd February), sprint races in cross-country-skiing (Friday, 25th February) and the nations’ ranking in ski-jumping (Saturday, 26th February).

• German top-athletes: Georg Späth, Michael Uhrmann, Martin Schmitt (ski-jumping), Ronny Ackermann, Sebastian Haseney, Georg Hettich (nordic combined), Evi Sachenbacher, Claudia Künzel, Viola Bauer, René Sommerfeldt, Axel Teichmann und Tobias Angerer (cross-country).

• Anticipated spectators: 300 000
• Accredited guests: 6 500
• Representatives of the media: 1 500
• Capacity of the WCS Ski Jumping Arena: 20 000
• Capacity of the WCS Cross-Country Arena: 30 000
