Cumberland, Maine
October 29, 2005
Weather: 32 degrees
Distance: 15km
The Coastal Nordic Ski Club hosted the NENSA New England Roller-ski Championships this past weekend at the Valhalla Country Club in Cumberland. Despite a scary weather report, athletes, parents, and volunteers were treated to a wonderful fall morning with clear skies and brisk temperatures. Thanks to Bates and Bowdoin Colleges for raising the level of competition! In the women's race Bates Kaitlyn McElroy lead a 1-2-3 sweep, finishing 12th overall ahead of teammates Lauren Jacobs and Alyssa Praggastis! Sylvan Ellefson (Bates freshmen and Colorado native) won the men's race narrowly out-sprinting Harry Poole (Burke Mt Academy) and Seth Hubbard (Bates). In the Junior Men's race Maine Coast Nordic's Sam Tarling took home the win in front of teammates Gain Robinson and Scott Talbot. After the race many athletes were able to take home prizes and gift certificates in the post-race drawing thanks to TorbjornSport, FastSplits (Peak Performance Sports), and Gorham Bike and Ski. Thanks to the volunteers who help put this thing together! 10/29/05
