Siri Halle (34) has been selected to race for Norway in the upcoming sprint World Cup opener in Düsseldorf, Germany. She is however not a member of the national team, so while the team did their final preparation in Val Senales, Siri Halle got ready at 2000 meter altitude in Bulgaria.

Most of Norway’s elite skiers chose high profile places like Ramsau and Val Senales for their season preparations, but Siri Halle is training in Belmeken, Bulgaria.

She and her boyfriend have been camping in some old construction trailers for ten days.

– It’s very nostalgic here. Water drips in when it’s raining and we lost the power yesterday, but it has lots of charm and it’s incredibly scenic, says Siri Halle.

Great training
She is aware that it’s an untraditional choice, but still feels that the training is valuable.

-It’s no snow here yet, but the dryland training is excellent. I’ll do my final preparations in the skitunnel in Torsby this week, says Siri.

Belmeken is at 2000 meter altitude and is located roughly 140 kilometers south East of the capitol Sofia.

– There are not many others here at this time, but the old DDR used to train here a lot. It’s also cheap to be here compared to the more typical training sites. I can highly recommend it, says Halle.

Look for her in the Dusseldorf sprint next weekend.
