Team CXC dominated their home turf yesterday by taking 5 out of the 6 podium places in the 5/10km classic races of the Telemark SuperTour.

In the women’s 5km race Rebecca Dussault won by a commanding 31 seconds over teammate Maria Stuber, mimicking their 1-2 placements in both of last weekend’s SuperTour races in Minneapolis.

Third place went to Melissa Schwartz, who finished another 13 seconds behind Stuber, both previous teammates at NMU.

A current NMU skier, Laura Dewitt, took 4th, and UWGB skier Carolyn Freeman rounded out the top five.

In the men’s 10km race, Bryan Cook, who had placed third in both of last weekend’s races,  took the top of the podium this time, edging out CXC teammate Matt Liebsch by a slim 1.8 second margin. Liebsch, who won last weekend’s skate race, is usually a stronger skater.

“I felt like I had a chance to do very well but I was a little surprised to be battling for the win in a classic race,” said Liebsch. “I have worked very hard this past season on improving my classic skiing and I felt very good striding today.”

Brian Gregg, also skiing for CXC, finished in third place, 19 seconds off Cook’s pace.

Chris Cook (Steinbock Racing) placed fourth and Oskar Lund (MTU) was fifth.
