It was a great day for the favorites in the 2007 Skarverennet in Norway on Saturday. Therese Johaug was in a class by herself in the women’s race, while Ole Einar Bjrndalen won a fierce sprint for the victory in the men’s race.
The elite class started at 11.15 AM on Saturday. And the race is 38 kilometer long.
The conditions were great with temperatures around at – 10-12 Celsius.
– It was fantastic. We have only received positive feedback, says chief of press John-Ragnar Aarseth.
The women’s race was not surprisingly won by this season’s big surprise, Therese Johaug. Her more seasoned competitors had basically no chance. Among them were Marit Bjrgen and 13 time winner Elin Nilsen.
– Johaug skied away early, and skied a big part of the race by herself.
The men’s race was more exciting. A relatively large lead group stayed together for a big portion of the race, but at the end it was a battle between biathlonking Ole Einar Bjrndalen and long-distance skier Svein Tore Sinnes.
– Ole Einar had the most experience and won barely ahead of Sinnes, says Aarseth.
