Swedish national team dropouts Mathias and Thobias Fredriksson, along with sprinter Björn Lind, are pulling together in their preparation for the upcoming season. They are creating their own organization and support system outside the national team. Anders Södergren has not yet decided if he will join them.
According to the newspaper Länstidningen, the group has already built their own organization for training and camps.
– We’ll have camps in Torsby, Ramsau and Ramundberget, among others, says Mathias Fredriksson to Länstidningen.
He states that the team is supporting those that the national team does not want. This includes wax technician Mikael Book. He was not rehired by the national team, but will now wax for the Fredriksson brothers and Lind.
According to the Nordic program director Per-Åke Yttergård, Book does not have the social skills required to work for the national team. Book will also wax for the Canadian team this season. Södergren will decide this week if he will stay with the national team or jump ship.
