On Monday, Cross Country Canada announced that its national team head coach for the last six years, Justin Wadsworth, will take a break from coaching after this season.
Led by Linn Eriksen, who won the women's 15 k classic mass start by nearly 20 seconds, and Moritz Madlener, second in the men's 20 k, Denver locked up its 23rd national championship on Saturday. Meanwhile, Mads Strøm completed a clean sweep of the men's individual races.
Friday's Stage 7 15 k freestyle skate tightened up the standings for the overall in the Ski Tour Canada. Russia's Sergey Ustiugov leads, but by only 32 seconds ahead of Norway's Petter Northug Jr. If that wasn't reason enough for Ustiugov to keep a high octane pace on Stage 8, Northug's teammate, Martin Johnsrud Sundby starts 39 seconds back from the Russian. The nordic NCAA Skiing Championships opened Thursday in Steamboat Springs, Colo., with Norwegian Mads Strøm becoming the University of Colorado's winningest male nordic skier of all time. Anika Miller notched the first individual win for Montana State in 38 years, and MSU leads the team standings at the halfway point of the championships.

Stage 6 of the Ski Tour Canada featured a brutal course for both the women's 15-kilometer and the men's 30 k skiathlons. It was simply survival of the fittest as the classic loop featured a grueling 1.2 k climb while the skate leg was punctuated by dicey soft-snow corners navigated at high speed.

A first-time racer and a former champion returning after a long absence skied to convincing victories in the Anchorage Tour 30 k freestyle on Sunday, the shortened version of the 50 k Tour of Anchorage which took place on a 3 k loop at Kincaid Park.
One name notably absent from the World Cup results this year is Kikkan Randall. As the U.S. Ski Team veteran nears the due date of her first child, she talks about pregnancy, training and how next season might look. Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks’ Fairbanks Cross Country (NSCF-FXC) junior racing program is looking for an assistant coach to begin work this summer.
The Australian National Team is hiring! Specifically, "the Ski & Snowboard Australia Cross Country Committee (SSA XC) is seeking expressions of interest for a Head Coach with the Cross Country Skiing High Performance Program. The intention is for this to be a full-time year-round position."

The U.S. Ski Team rocked the first stage of the Ski Tour Canada with back-to-back podiums, starting with Jessie Diggins in third in the women's freestyle sprint, followed by Simi Hamilton in third as well in the men's sprint.
