Russia Takes Top Two in Falun 10 k Classic; Erik Bjornsen Tallies Season-Best 21st

There were no Norwegians on the podium Saturday in Falun, Sweden. Russia secured the top two with Maxim Vylegzhanin in first and Alexander Bessmertnykh in second, and France’s Maurice Manificat finished third. American Erik Bjornsen to a second-best 21st, a minute out of first.

Sundby Bests Bessmertnykh, Double Poles to Undefeated Distance Streak

Martin Johnsrud Sundby double poled all 15 k of Sunday's classic race in Toblach, Italy, for his fifth win in as many World Cup distance races this season. Russia's Alexander Bessmertnykh rivaled him for most of the race, but finished 12.6 seconds back on kick wax. Canada's Alex Harvey placed 16th and Devon Kershaw was in the points in 28th.

Alexey Poltaranin (KAZ) used a superior finishing kick to overtake Alexander Bessmertnykh (RUS) at the line and claim victory in the 15km classic mass start in La Clusaz, France. Dario Cologna (SUI) was third and a surprising Didrik Toenseth (NOR) finished fourth.
