As the Far West Elite Team heads into the 2014/2015 season, self-described program "recruiter" Martin Benes and team manager Roger Chaney reflect on the development of the team over the past four years.
After moving to Truckee, California, a little over a year ago to join the Far West Elite Team, Patrick Johnson has picked up biathlon. Now a member of USBA's Development Team, he has his sights set on IBU Cup racing this year and hopefully an Olympics in the future.
Anja Gruber thought she was done with skiing after finishing high school in her native Germany. However, she received a call from Partrick Weaver of UVM that changed everything. Now, Gruber is a two-time NCAA Champion with eyes on the World Cup.
Far West Elite Team is now accepting applications for the 2014-15 race season. We are looking for highly-motivated skiers who are passionate about the sport and capable of being role models and mentors in our community. These athletes are an essential part of our mission to produce a high level training, racing, and cross country skiing environment in the Far West Division.
