The first official cross-country ski races of the season West Yellowstone Ski Festival, which has been known to attract 3,500 skiers and has been an early season tradition for more than 30 years. NCAA Champs Day 1: Strøm Makes CU History; Miller Nabs Individual Win for MSU

The nordic NCAA Skiing Championships opened Thursday in Steamboat Springs, Colo., with Norwegian Mads Strøm becoming the University of Colorado's winningest male nordic skier of all time. BSF skier Jennie Bender dominated from qualifier all the way through to the final on Friday in the first SuperTour race of the season. “You go into the season and you never really know what picture you’re going to paint,” Bender said. “So I’m stoked on how things were drawn today.”
