After a Week Of Racing, Primal Quest Begins To Wrap Up

The Subaru Primal Quest Adventure Race is beginning to finish up at Lake Tahoe,
with only half the teams still left on the course. The race, which started last
Friday now has 19 teams across the finish line, 21 teams dropped out, and 41
still en route.

Here is an update on our Nordic participants:

Team RacingAhead.com, with Pat & Tracey Cote crossed the finish line in
13th place on Thursday evening. They were battling for a top-ten position for
much of the race. Over the last two days they dropped back a bit, but stayed
tough for very impressive result. Before the race, team members told FasterSkier
that top 20 would be "a very strong result" and top 10 would be "an
incredible result." They should be very happy with their performance. Way
to go RacingAhead.com!

But it turns out that they were not the highest ranking nordic skiers in the
race. A browse through the race reports revealed that all members of Team Crested
Butte, which finished 11th, consider themselves to be nordic types. Here
is an article on Team Crested Butte's finish
. Congratulations, Team Crested
Butte.

Justin Wadsworth's Team Montrail had to drop out after four days because Justin
was suffering acute tendonitis. He tried to carry on with the injury, but eventually
could go no further. Team Montrail was in 5th place at the time. Here
is an article on Montrail's Withdrawal.

We are sure that there were other cross-country skiers out there on the Primal
Quest that we still have not recognized. After all, an endurance-fest like this
one is going to attract a lot of crazy skiers. Our hats go off to all participants,
nordic skiers or not.
