Pedersen And Skjeldal On Top In Norwegian Opener

Hilde G. Pedersen dominated the 10 kilometer freestyle race in the Norwegian cross country opener at Beitostolen on Saturday November 15.

Pedersen was 25 seconds ahead of yesterday’s sprint winner Marit Bjorgen. Kristin Stormer was third, 31 seconds behind and Kris M. Stemland was fourth 37 seconds out.

Kristen Skjeldal (see our story about Skjeldal yesterday: Olympic Champion in 2002 — Kicked Off The Team In 2003) won the men’s race 5 seconds ahead of Biathlete Frode Andresen.

“Iron” Tor Arne Hetland (see yesterday’s story Let’s Get Ready To Rumble) was third, 33 seconds behind and Olympic Biathlon Champion Ole Einar Bjorndalen was fourth 35 seconds out.

American Olympic and World Championship team member Lars Flora was 22nd in a competitive field of 113 skiers. Lars was 1 minute and 56 seconds behind the winner.
