LIENZ, Austria (Jan. 18) — Two-time Olympian Carl Swenson (Park City, UT) finished third, three strides back in the final sprint Sunday as Markus Hasler of Liechtenstein won the 50K freestyle Dolomitenlauf marathon. Hasler's winning time in the 30th edition of the Worldloppet race was 2:04.14 with Spain's Juan Jesus Gutierrez in second place (2:04.16). Swenson's time was 2:04.18.
Swenson finished ahead of big names such as Pietro Piller Cottrer and Silvio Fauner.
