Top Skiers In Summer Challenge At Wolf Mountain

Norwegian national team skier Odd Bjorn Hjelmeset got lots of attention last summer when he broke the old record by running the most “up and down” trips to the top of Ulvskollen (Wolf Mountain) near Skien, Norway in 24-hours (www.fasterskier.com/feature.php?id=432). Top XC and biathlon skiers from Norway, Sweden and France are this summer challenging each other in a two-person marathon running relay up and down the same mountain.

The event will take place on July 3rd. Each person on the two-person teams will run equal to a full marathon (42 kilometer) — or seven times up and down the mountain. It’s expected that each runner will use roughly seven hours on their leg.

Anders Aukland has teamed up with Hjelmeset for this unusual event.
