New Zealand: Where the USST turns training into results
Our skiers spent the early spring recovering from the racing season, the late spring building back up to training and starting in May they are training full-bore. With three months of training behind them the team heads to New Zealand aiming to connect the dots between rollerskiing, general and specific strength, running, bounding with the specifics of skiing on snow.

In New Zealand the skiers have a perfect opportunity to spend hours a day focused on the specific aspects of the sport that are impossible to precisely duplicate off snow. They can ski right from the back door of the hotel on two hour loops of varied terrain with good to perfect grooming in winter conditions. Skiers will ski 8 to 10 sessions a week, run two to three times a week, lift weights twice a week and do spenst and bounding once a week. They will do intensity two to three times a week in the form of level 3 and level 4 intervals and races — including the famous Marino Muster, a 42km skate marathon.

The team coaches will be taking video on a daily basis and helping the skiers analyze their technique every evening. We also test ski grinds, wax and skis. It is a perfect place for both training and equipment testing as conditions can vary from warm klister to extra blue hard wax.
