Yes, it's like doing the American Birkebeiner on a mtn bike. Â Not just any bike, I choose a bike built for two or tandem. Â The Chequamegon Fat Tire 40 is a 40 mile mtn bike race from Hayward to Cable , WI. Â It uses some of the famed Birkie trail along with multiple fire roads to make up the largest off road bike race in the country with about 2500 riders.

This was to be my third ride on a tandem in two years. Â The tandem always proves to be lots of fun mixed with plenty of pain and suffering (especially on this course). Â We had been there before as a tandem team. Â Once finishing 2nd including a not so fun painful crash, then coming back the next year 1st (70th overall) and yet another year riding in first only to have a mechanical force a DNF.<br />
