The private Norwegian marathon-team has been in existence for a few seasons, but the planning has never been as professional as this year.
– We have notices an increased interest around the team and the skiers. Our sponsors feel they get their money’s worth, says team director Lars Aabol.
The team sponsor, the Sport equipment provider, Intersport, is so satisfied that it has decided to support the team for two more years. The skiers has also inspired the company, which plans to send 100 of their staff to the Italian marathon race Marcialonga this year.
The team has a better financial foundation than earlier, which has resulted in better and more activities. Earlier, all the funds were used for traveling to races, while they now also include training camps. The team is currently in training camp near Lillehammer, and has had three camps earlier this year.
The improved economy has also resulted in a better support team, and a full-time wax technician has been hired for the winter season.
– After a summer full of many and long training sessions the entire team is injury free and looking stronger than ever before, says Aabol.
