The Norwegian women’s team won the first 4 x 5 kilometer World Cup relay of the season in Gallivare, Sweden on Sunday. Kine Beate Bjornas skied the first leg for the Norwegian team and did a good job. She is planning on trying hard to keep that spot for upcoming World Cup relays and Worlds.
satisfied with that. It was better than last year, so I’m very happy. I had hoped for a top 20 and managed that, said Bjornas.

It was very cold in Gallivare and the Norwegian skiers and coached evaluated all the way up to start if they were to race or not.

— It was cold, but I didn’t have any major problems. My fingers and toes were the coldest. I have not had any big problems racing in cold conditions in the past either, said Kine.

Next up is World Cup races in Kuusamo, Finland next weekend.

— We’ll stay here until Wednesday when we travel to Finland. I’m planning on easy distance on Monday and maybe strength. Tuesday two short workouts including speed and Wednesday one short workout before departure. Thursday a few short intervals to get ready for Friday’s competition, explains Bjornas.

She hopes to race the pursuit, the 30-kilometer and the relay at Worlds. Her short term goal is a top 10 in a World Cup race.

I think I can improve more when I start easing up on the training says Kine.
