Val di Fiemme, Italy –
For the fifth time this season the winner at the weekend’s World Cup Cross Country competition was Marit Björgen (NOR, Fischer Skis and Boots). In a tough double pursuit race Björgen managed to beat Kristina Smigun (EST, Fischer Skis) in the last meters of the race. Third came Gabriella Paruzzi of Italy. “I've never thought I could win this race. Now I know what the hard training during the summer is worth. And not to forget, I had perfect skis today”. said a very happy Marit at the finish.

Axel Teichmann (Ger, Fischer Skis) the leader in the overall World Cup celebrated another victory in the man's double pursuit competition. This win was an outstanding achievement as Teichmann fell during the race and injured his shins, and then fought himself back into the leading position and managed to win the race in a very tight sprint. Second was his teammate Jens Filbrich (Ger, Fischer Skis) and third Vincent Vittoz (FRA). Mathias Fredriksson (SWE, Fischer Skis) came 4th.
