Ivan Babikov (Subaru Factory Team) managed to hold off a hard-charging Leif Zimmerman in the 15km mass-start freestyle race which capped off a week of SuperTour competitions at the Telemark Resort in Wisconsin. Babikov's winning time was 34:52.88, just five seconds clear of Zimmerman, who is a member of the US Development Team.
At the mid-race time check, it was yesterday's champion of the 10k classic, Thomas Oyberg, who led the field. Zimmerman lurked in 11th place, but within a few seconds of leaders, while Babikov also hung back slightly in 5th. When all the cards were laid out, however, it was Babikov on top taking his third SuperTour victory since US Nationals in early January.
