Lars Flora (Subaru Factory Team) has been coming on strong ever since returning from Europe and a great performance at “La Sgambeda”, an FIS Marathon Cup race. Lars won the SuperTour 15k skate race held at Soldier Hollow in mid-December and could be in the hunt for the win.

U.S. Ski Team member Andrew Johnson had some promising results in recent World Cup races before returning home to prepare for these Championships. Strong in the longer distances and a freestyle technique expert, “AJ” will no doubt turn in one of the fastest times of the day.

Some of the top contenders in the women's race:

Sarah Konrad's strong uphill skiing gave her a very convincing win in the SuperTour 10k freestyle at Soldier Hollow in mid-December. Today's 15k freestyle should be right up her alley, giving her a great shot at a national title.

Another podium contender is Alaskan-native Kikkan Randall, U.S. Development Team / APU. Although strongest in the sprint format, she racked up a couple podiums in distance events in the December SuperTour races at Soldier Hollow.

U.S. Ski Team member Wendy Wagner is currently the only U.S. woman with world cup experience in the 2004-2005 season. Wendy's pure strength combined with extensive training experience on the Soldier Hollow trails, give her a decisive edge on the competition.
