“Trotz Schneemassen ist Oberstdorf startklar” — which means despite tons of snow Oberstdorf is ready for the Worlds

One day before the start of the Nordic Ski Championships 2005 in Oberstdorf Athlets, organizers and officials are looking forward to exciting competitions. In the night from Monday to Tuesday Oberstdorf got tons of new snow! Over 50 centimeters (approx. 2 feet) of new snow means a lot of work for hundrets of volunteers to get the venues in shape.

The Ski-jump venue and the course in the XC-arena are in perfect conditions even with the huge amount of snow of the last days, so that the official training for the first Nordic Combined event can be held on Wednesday. ”We are well prepared, everything is on schedule” says Rudi Hoeller, chief organizer of the Oberstdorf worlds 2005. “The atmosphere within the organizing team is great. For us the worlds 2005 will kick off, when the first Nordic Combined athlets will do their first jumps on Wednesday. Hoeller compliments in particular the great support of all the volunteers. “It is amazing how engaged everyone is working here to have an outstanding event!”

At the opening ceremony of the Nordic Parks on Monday night already hundrets of spectators joined the Rock Band “Undercover” in world championship worthy atmosphere. The official awards ceremony of every day will be held at the Nordic Park at night. On Tuesday at 10am the first offical training was held for Nordic Combined as well as the crosscountry skiers.
