Hometown favorite Raul Olle crushed the field and won the Tartu Maraton in Estonia on Sunday by almost five minutes. Stanislav Rezac of the Czech Republic was second and Jorgen Aukland of Norway was third.

Raul Olle was second in last years Vasaloppet and was unbeatable in Sundays race. The fight for second place was a lot closer with Rezac beating last years third place finisher in Vasaloppet Aukland at the end by six seconds.

Tartu marathon is not a part of the FIS marathon World Cup this season, only a part of the Worldwide Worldloppet. Jorgen Aukland proved with this that he is on his way back after a period with sickness. He has not had the results that he hoped for after the Chinese Vasaloppet, but is now focusing everything toward the season’s big goal, the Swedish Vasaloppet.
