The Czech Republic's Martin Koukal came out on top after an exciting day of sprint racing at the Colorado International Spring Series at Snow Mountain Ranch. Kris Freeman, who is known as a distance racer and does not race many sprint events, showed for the second day in a row that he can sprint with the best of them, taking second place. Lars Flora was third and Torin Koos, who had the fastest qualifing time by a whopping 3 seconds had to settle for fourth.

In the women's race, Dasha Gaiazova used powerful finishing kick to win. She beat a tough field, including Karin Camenish (2nd) and Brooke Baughman (3rd) and Sigrid Aas (4th).

Spring Series continues on Thursday with the 5 & 10 kilometer skate races at Snow Mountain Ranch.
