The summer and fall are critical training months for cross country skiers. Rollerskiing is a must for those who are serious about progress. The best juniors, elite and master skiers are spending 25-50% of their training time on rollerskis. Here are some photos from a May 26th rollerski workout.

The skiers are Kelly Milligan, Scott McArt, Anders Haugen and James Southam. The pictures were taken during a classic rollerski workout from Mtn. Dell up East Canyon outside Park City, Utah on May 26th, 2005. Nice, tough terrain; 10-12-kilometers of solid uphill. Intervals were on the agenda, but the photos includes warm-up, intervals and cool down. The weather was perfect — sunny and not to hot.

So you want to ski faster next winter? Well, dust of your rollerskis, check bolt, nuts, shaft and bearings. Replace worn-down wheels and start building specific endurance and strength. Next season is only six month away.
