Coach Svein Tore Samdal has gathered the Norwegian women’s team to a dryland capacity training week at Ilsetra. The camp runs from August 8-14 and all eight elite national team members are participating along with two invited skiers.

– We are mostly doing two daily workouts. One workout on the first and on the last day as well as on one day in the middle of the camp and the rest will be days with double sessions I’m focusing on capacity, and it’s therefore 02-training (read: intervals, pace or time-trials) on the agenda. We’ll also do one strength workout, says Samdal.

The 02 sessions will be done as classic and skating on rollerskis, running and moose-hoofs. Samdal is using both uphills and easier terrain for the workouts.

– The skiers have their strength in different terrain. I think it’s important to not only use uphills, but also push hard on the flats, says the national team coach.

He also says that the women are making progress and that all the tests have been. positive. There have in addition been very little injuries or sickness among the elite women, and Samdal is optimistic ahead of the season.
