“The ski manufacturers are fighting to get Northug”. This was a recent sport page headline in Norwegian newspaper Vg a few days ago. Norway’s upcoming young skistar Petter Northug Jr. (19) has as the first ever junior skier got a contract with Fischer that includes salary, reports the paper.

Petter Northug has been offered to test equipment from a large number of companies following his success last season.

Fischer seems to have snagged the young ski star with a contract that includes a base salary. His salary will be multiplied by five if he makes next years Norwegian A-team.

Medals at junior Worlds will mean extra bonuses from Fischer.

Northug raced in his first ever regular World cup race at Beitostolen last weekend and placed 21st , only 1.05 out in the 15-kilometer classic. Not bad for a junior skier…
