this year along with a few new professionals. If you have not made
your reservation for the camps, please do so as soon as possible. We
want to make sure we have everything ready for you when you arrive.

make)! You can book on line through the XC Camp web site
www.xccamps.ca { <http://www.xccamps.ca } . While on the site, have a
visit to the linked sponsors and partners of the camps. They all help
us keep the prices in line and the camp options exciting. If you need
to rent equipment, click on the Stussi Sport link. Your rental fee

The plans and preparations for the Night Sprints for Dec 6 are moving
ahead rapidly. Major sponsors for these sprints are Red Bull and
ReMax. They will be joined by others over the next weeks as well as a
host of supporting sponsors. If you will be out here Dec 6 and would
like to have your name up on the JUMBOTRON and have your picture
taken with one of the qualifying Olympic athletes, let me know and I
will tell you how. Some of the international athletes are here
already and will be skiing on the trails toward the top of the
mountain today.

All for now. Get registered and come out and ski with us.

November 2

Hi Campers!

Just a quick note here to let you know I skied today and it was
great! The XC season is officially underway as the staff were out on
the trails when grooming started Monday and the public will get their
first taste this Friday. Conditions in the village are good and as the
trails rise, canditions get better and better. There is at least 50 cm
of snow on the top of the mountain and today the sun was out, the snow
dry and the temp -3 C. You can check out the main street of Silver
Star Mountain on the web cam at www.skisilverstar.com
(The site of the Dec 6 stadium area for the famous Silver Star Night Sprints).

If you are thinking of joining us for one of our camps, please send
in your registration as soon as possible ( www.xccamps.ca
{ http://www.xccamps.ca }) We have our first international athlete
checked in for training and the World Cup and Night Sprint
activities. The rest of the XC world will be joining us on differing
schedules over the next two weeks.

Come and join us for what is shaping up to be one of the great XC
happenings in North America.

Aussie World Cup XC Racer Gives Big Thumbs Up to Early Snow at Silver Star!

For Immediate Release November 1, 2005

This is no Halloween trick! A blast of midwinter weather has treated cross country skiers at the world-famous Silver Star Mountain into a snowy wonderland, and Australia’s Esther Bottomley couldn’t be happier! “This is my first trip to Canada and I chose Silver Star because I’d heard they have reliable early season snow, and it’s true!”

The 23 year-old member of Australia’s national Nordic team hit the trails today after landing at Silver Star last week for pre-race training in advance of the World Cup races that will be held later in December. She came straight from Dusseldorf, Germany, where she competed in the season’s opener sprint event that drew hundreds of thousands of spectators. Based out of Mount Beauty in Victoria, Australia, Esther hopes to soon be joined by four other members of the Australian team for training sessions at Silver Star.

Nordic Manager Glenn Bond says that fat flakes are flying in the Village and up on the mountain, and with a few more centimetres the heavy grooming fleet will be put into full operation. “We’ve got enough snow to snowmobile groom right now and there are over a dozen people out on the trails enjoying the early season conditions. If the weather forecast is correct and this pattern holds for the weekend, I can safely say we’ll be have 25 kilometres of trails ready for our official opening on Friday, November 4.” Mother Nature’s bounty has been augmented by an aggressive summer grooming program that has greatly enhanced early-season conditions.

It’s a great kickoff to Silver Star’s famous “Month of Nordic” events which will feature numerous Masters camps, waxing clinics, training camps, the Silver Star “Dash for Cash” Night Sprints with a huge international field.members of Canada’s National Team), and equipment demos that run right from Opening Day right through until December 17. Restaurants and hotels are now open to host early season Nordic skiers. Glenn says, “even if you're not a cross country skier, banish those valley blues and come on up, bring the kids, and make a snowman!”

With all of the fresh powder and a 35cm mid-mountain base, Silver Star Mountain’s downhill skiing and snowboarding operation is poised to meet its November 24th opening day. Check out www.skisilverstar.com for updates, and subscribe to the Snow Ghost newsletter.
